Tenure track is the core academic career system of Aalto University. Aalto tenure track offers well-supported career path aimed at the Professorial level for successful academics. Tenure track is based on the principle of commitment from university and individual to academic career; it has clearly defined expectations, incentives, and assistance in personal development.

Recruitment and evaluation criteria

The requirements for tenure track are based on following dimensions

  1. research work, scientific output 
  2. teaching merits and competence 
  3. activity in the scientific community, academic leadership and societal interaction. Relevant industrial experience is appreciated.

The dean makes the final decision in recruitment for the Assistant Professor and non-tenured Associate Professor levels. The Aalto University's President makes the final decision when recruitments are made to tenured Associate or Full Professor position.
