Arto Huuskonen from Aalto University’s BES research group named Researcher of the Year by EuroFM Network
28.05.2012
Finnish research received European acknowledgement as Arto Huuskonen was named Facilities Management Researcher of the Year at the EFMC2012 conference held in Copenhagen on 24 May 2012. There were four finalists in the FM Researcher of the Year category: two from Finland, one from Holland and one from Norway.
The finalists were selected out of 23 researchers whose papers had been selected for the research symposium from a total of over 60 abstracts.
Arto Huuskonen participated in the research symposium with his paper “Network Management of Service Providers in the Housing-FM Sector” written in co-operation with his doctoral thesis advisor Suvi Nenonen. The paper analyses and assesses the networking models selected by service providers as a part of business development.
The international jury named Arto Huuskonen Researcher of the Year due to the high-quality research paper and the interesting new research area: facilities management has traditionally been linked to business premises, but the market for centralised support services in the housing sector is also growing. Arto Huuskonen is a pioneer in this research field. His research is related to projects funded by the Tekes Spaces and Places programme and the Built Environment programme that have focused on areas such as senior housing, services and business.
In addition to the award ceremony, a book on producing added value in facilities management was also published at the conference. Anna-Liisa Sarasoja from the Aalto University REB research group has participated in writing the book.
Arto Huuskonen
works in the Aalto University Built Environment Services research group. He has been working as a researcher since 2009 and is writing his doctoral dissertation on the business models and inter-organisational co-operation networks in facilities management. His research material focuses on regional business networks from the point of view of housing. Huuskonen is currently participating in an exchange programme at Stanford University in the United States. He will return to Finland to finish his doctoral dissertation in September. He is also one of the researchers of the Doctoral Programme in the Built Environment.
