Solid expertise of systems
The Aalto University School of Engineering provides teaching and research on areas covering the entire built environment with its machines and equipment. We create new information and solutions which serve the goals of sustainable development. Our key focus areas both in teaching and research include global warming, energy conservation and clean energy, and the sustainable use of natural resources.
We operate in the fields of urban and regional studies, real estate economics, geomatics, energy and HVAC technology, mechanical engineering, applied
mechanics, structural engineering and building technology, and civil and environmental engineering. Our research focus areas are:
- Sustainable Built Environment
- Mechanics and Materials
- Systems Design and Production
- Multidiciplinary Energy Technology
- Arctic Technology
Tradition of Societal Impact
Renewing of technologies related to the technological industry and built environment by scientific research and education of experts are our specific tasks. We collaborate closely with industry and the surrounding society since a practice-oriented approach and collaboratively funded research projects are characteristic of our activities.
Solid Expertise of Systems
Application-oriented approach in research and education, strong expertise in systems thinking and long-term tradition in experimental research are our strengths. The connections of our research fields with the technology industry and the built environment equip our researchers, teachers and students with the ability to examine and comprehend vast subjects. Exploring the interfaces between information technology and the traditional fields generates new opportunities for research and teaching.
